Hey guys so my female finally seems like she gonna lay some eggs!!! She is cleaning her floor of the aquarium and I have a terracotta dish in there and her one half the aquarium is bare aside from the dish and the bubbler.... no divider yet.... I plan on separating mom then adding dad? How would you guys do it... I dont have the ability to go get another sponge filter and such right this second to set up the breeding tank today.

Ideas on how you would go about this.
I've had her for 3 months I've yet to see eggs but first time showing this behavior

What kind of fish?

Flowerhorn, I was going to do a water change today, forgive the messy tank... she hasn't really been eating much, I did cut down the amount I give her and times a day of feeding but there still alot of waste :/ I just did it 2 days ago too. 16238770262461275489436705520145.jpg16238770674434680104538333005131.jpg16238770262461275489436705520145.jpg16238770674434680104538333005131.jpg

For the eggs, it’s best to put a divider in and the male on the other side. Put the eggs/rock near the divider, the male can fertilize through the divider, he can be moved once it’s done.

Did I get that right Magnus_Bane Magnus_Bane ?

Ok so as I was out I decided that I'm setting up a 40 long gonna put her sponge filter in it and the dish with divider then add dad after she lays eggs ....will that work?

That can work but it might be less stressful to the female if the male is brought into her tank.

Like while she lays the eggs?

So before I left for the night I put Rhonda in a "breeding tank" with a divider and heater and sponge filter with her dish, I am headed home now but if there no eggs should I put Steve in there with her as well but with divider?

I’d wait to see what experienced flowerhorn breeders say. If I’m correct, you put the plate near the divider and let the male fertilize the eggs through it.

K so I'm home.
The bottom of Rhonda tank looks like it has alot of waste in it which is wierd because I just put her in a fresh tank not even 24 hours ago .... I took my net and swooshed trying to get the waste, some came up but some is stuck... what is this? It definitely does not look like eggs
