Nesting???

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If I had to guess at first, that’s a lot of crap, unless you feed worms to her.

I had given her 1/3 of a small cube blood worms because she hasn't been eating much.... but that was when I noticed this stuff so it's not ALL blood worms

That would be why. Blood worms may be like crack to a fish but it's hard for em to digest the skin of em so quite often you'll get what you have now. Just a big mess of passed blood worms skins.

I’d wait to see what experienced flowerhorn breeders say. If I’m correct, you put the plate near the divider and let the male fertilize the eggs through it.
Generally I prefer natural breeding if at all possible. Makes it much easier when the parents do all the work for ya. As for the breeding method you mentioned, it is definitely a safer alternative but can also backfire badly if the divider isn't securely in place so neither parent can move it. Grant the same can be said for the natural method as well. Ik atleast with FH's there's always risks when it comes to breeding just because of how aggressive they can be.

Btw as for some extra advice I would definitely recommend adding in a pile of river stone or a thick and bushy fake plant. This allows the potential fry a safe place to hide and graze away from the parents if need be. Oh btw if you don't mind, could we all get to see a pic of this male that ya have? Just curious as to what kind it is and what it looks like.

Ok because I dont give them daily, maybe 2x a week but because she hasn't been eating much of anything else I just gave her some of those this am.

Personally I would cut that back to only once a week just to avoid em getting addicted to em. Well that and that it's hard for em to pass out all of the empty skins, has a possibility of constipation.
