I netted baby snakehead and have them in a 20G tank to grow them big enough to eat. But they keep dosing for no reason at around 7inchs and that's no where near big ENOGHT to eat. Do any of you know why there dying? Also there Channa Marulius (bullseye snakehead) thanks

you uhhhh in FL there bud? you realize that's massively illegal to have them alive right? And now you've posted this on a website known to be watched by CO's just for this type of stuff?

It's not illegal if you have the intent to eat them. It's illegal to transport them over state lines which I'm not doing, it's illegal to dump them back in the water which I'm not doing. I caught hem with the intent to study them and then eat them once they get big because I heard they are great eatting and highly valued by oriental people for there rumored healing powers.

And I'm actually doing a service by netting them and growing hem out to eat because there 4 fewer snakehead in my lake now. So I don't think I'm doing anything that the FWC would disapprove of. (Correct me if I'm wrong tho)

If I'm am doing something dos lawful I will kill them now, but I don't think I am. I'm pretty sure I even called FWC and asked them and they said they don't care or at least the guy on the phone didn't care. He said don't put them back in the water.

I also don't know what a CO is but if I am in ignorence of the law I would comply fully and sever there head and dispose of the body accordingly. I'm fairly sure tho that I am in full compliance of the law because they will never reach a body of water again. Other then stomach acid lol

you better check your laws bud. Its ILLEGAL to POSSESS a LIVE snakehead of any species. Don't care what your intent is, they have to be immediately killed upon capture.

CO-Conservation Officer

If someone at your local office said they don't care, they are in violation too. The species is federally illegal meaning you cannot possess live specimens period.

Oddball Oddball am I wrong here? I don't believe any laws have changed?
