Netting out monster sized fish ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Do not use a bass net! I learned it the hard way that it really tears the fins of the fish. I just use a very large minnow net I got from academy for $20.

I caught pacu out of my pond by wading in it and simply catching them in a clean bed sheet. Since sheets aren't water tight the water drained out and there is no holes in it for them to get their fins caught.

I use thick rubber gloves and just grab them. I don't like using nets because the fish seem to think they can get away and thus splash even more. I used a net once and in the end I might as well have just sprayed a garden hose around in the room. The hose probably would have been the dryer option. lol

Nets + Big Fish = Big Mess

i use a bucket lol or a net big enough

Didn't read all the pages so maybe someone mentioned this, but you could use a giant nylon fishing net. Its kinda like what u'd go fishing for big coho or small sharks, but it's made out of flexable nylon webbing. A guy I know has one. No clue where he got it though:confused: it's not that hard plastic stuff. I'll see if I can find one...
