Do not use a bass net! I learned it the hard way that it really tears the fins of the fish. I just use a very large minnow net I got from academy for $20.

I use a pool net. like for leaves and stuff. It is big enough for most big fish and the fine mesh does not screw up their body/scales
I caught pacu out of my pond by wading in it and simply catching them in a clean bed sheet. Since sheets aren't water tight the water drained out and there is no holes in it for them to get their fins caught.
for all of my monsters i use big thick clear plastic bags i dont use nets cause fish is forever biting threw them
I use thick rubber gloves and just grab them. I don't like using nets because the fish seem to think they can get away and thus splash even more. I used a net once and in the end I might as well have just sprayed a garden hose around in the room. The hose probably would have been the dryer option. lol

Didn't read all the pages so maybe someone mentioned this, but you could use a giant nylon fishing net. Its kinda like what u'd go fishing for big coho or small sharks, but it's made out of flexable nylon webbing. A guy I know has one. No clue where he got it though
