Not going to lying, a lot of my fish are rescues. Nothing wrong with getting free fish, but just like if you were to buy a fish, research it first. It doesn't matter where you get it from, if you are the one with knowledge, there will be less issues.

The friend should've quarantined the fish or checked them before adding to a tank...if they have not yet been added, no harm would've happened to his fish (if the disease were something contagious rather than HITH), so a simple apology for not recognizing the disease should be enough for a reasonable person
You gave your friend 3 free fish and your friendship is ruined because they are diseased? whats the big deal, its not like you charged him money. Your friend seems like he has hole in the head too, he should get that checked out.
Personally I would be pissed at you too. I sure wouldn't want to provide a hundred plus gallons of my tank space to three unhealthy oscars. Why did you take these fish in the first place, especially if you knew nothing about them

How do you know the friendship is ruined. Did he say "Dude. we arent friends now?" I doubt it. He might be a little angry but a good friend will get over it.
