i raised my mono? to about and he just died...:irked::cry:
for some reason,
all the pbass i buy die for some strange reason.
theyre fine.
eating.
swimming around.
then suddenly die.:irked:
every other species i kept in there wouldnt die.
nothing wrong with the water.
very healthy feeders.
and they die.
im never buying baby pbass again.
now i have just 2 2 inch tems and hopefully they survive.
if not then too bad i guess...

Get them on pellets, you might have better success

no offense but something must be wrong...

its hard to get baby cichla on pellets when there small. to get most pbass to take pellets you have starve them and its bad to starve baby pbas

^
yup.
i dont think i like the idea of starving them at this size.
all water parameters are fine.
ammonia 0
nitrites 0
nitrates 0
ive kept many fish in this tank and none have died like the pbass.
plus its been running for nearly 2 yrs.

could be parasites from feeders???

yeah if i gave up everytime my pbass didnt make it through i wouldnt have had any at all, luckily i didnt do through that many and found out the hard way that my water was the big culprate...

If the nitrates are at 0 then you've got some kind of a problem. So what would really be helpful for us to help you would be:
Tank size
Filters
Number and size of pbass
Number and size of other tank mates
Water change schedule (frequency, amount (%) and methods)
Temp of tank
And... The length of time that you have been able to keep them alive.

the times they live are variable.
i just checked the water again.
nitrates 0.5.
most of the feeders are bred by myself.
except for the occasional goldfish.
which the pbass do not eat.
not for them.
i change the water 2 times a week.
50 percent water changes.
its a 20g for growing them out.
but its divided into 2 because the larger one ate one of the tems...
i was able to keep the mono until 4 inches.
which is the largest ive ever kept them until.
i had a tem near this size.
but he was eaten.
different story.
many of them died at 2 inches.
some 1.5 inches.
only tankmates are each other and a channa pulchra.
it means no harm by the way.
its smaller than the pbass and they dont bother each other.
some were alive for a week.
some for 2 mths.
