Never grew...

My cousin's endli never grew since I gave it to him... It's 10" in length and it's tank condition as of my cousin abroad is...

-55gals(for a while until the endli grew)
-10" endli and 9" albino
-no filter nor oxygen pump
-Water change every month(with 0 amonia/nitrate)
-food(beef heart, tilapia & earth worms) once every two weeks

My question is why does his endli never grew? could it be it's tank condition or could it be it's diet?

no it's not.. he's living in Singapore... and I don't know why does he keep keeping fish when he doesn't have time for it... -_-

With no filtration and a diet consisting of meaty/messy foods, I find it hard to believe that there are no ammonia, nitrite or nitrate problems in that tank. If those fish were unable to extract oxygen from the water surface, they would have surely died a long while ago.

yes I'm surprised too... But bichirs really have a name when "super hardy fish" is in the talk...

I want to know what will these bichir is experiencing when they are still in these tank?

My suggestion would be either yourself or cousin go online and learn how to properly set up and take care of a tank. Stick with the basic necessities. It does not cost much. This way he will enjoy the hobby a little bit more and appreciate the endli. If not, sell it or give to someone (You?) who will have a decent tank set up for it. Just my opinion.
