I agree with the other comments on this thread.

There needs to be some minimal amount of filtration in that tank.

The cheapest way to do this is to add a (air-pump driven) Sponge Filter.

These are pretty easy to set-up and very cheap.

There was a 3 month period when I ran a crazy overstock 4ft tank (with 1 x 1ft Silver Aro, 2 x 1ft FL Gars, 2 x 1ft Gator Gars, 1 x 8" Endli, 1 x 8" Jaguar) with just a couple of JUMBO Sponge filters and weekly water-changes.

Wow, i know most singapore fishkeepers tend to overstock their tank and don't know the purpose of water changes.
But this just totally takes ignorance and idiocy to the next level. Ask your cousin to stick to video games...

From your first post, I can say the endli is experiencing hell right now. Ammonia/Nitrite poisoning [Lack of biofiltration], Malnutrition [I don't care what you say, food every 2 weeks is just not enough for bichir of any size] and possibly stunted
[55g? are you kidding me?]

no it's not.. he's living in Singapore... and I don't know why does he keep keeping fish when he doesn't have time for it... -_-

and i don't know why would you give them to him if you know he doesn't have time for it...

well i used to keep gars and many other fishes in tanks with no filtration. i had an over stocked 4' tank with 2' fishes even before i knew about filtration and the nitrogen cycle.

i do not know why your cousin keeps his fish in such conditions, but i do know that if no one had taken the time to teach and educate me rather than chasten me, i'd still be doing the same thing

Image1442.jpgguys, My cousin sends me a couple of this rocks.... he said this is his secret to keep the amonia/nitates/nitries 0. he also said he has an activated carbon as his substrate... and replacing these every after 2 months...

I'm not sure how these rocks do... but the instruction said that it absorbs amonia/ntrates/nitrites... and should sundry every 2 weeks and should replace after 2months of continued use...

I have seen people asking about black ghost knifefish and guppies together, ridiculous.

feeding once every 2 weeks?? I think i'm gonna jump off a cliff!:nilly:
