Tigers are pretty tough, tetras I would think would be toast.

tigers r strugglin with the dempsey (three vanished overnight).. i have black skirt tetras, they r like lil paranhas... they all survive the best with my meanies?? fish r weird lmao everyone has a dif exp with each fish lol

How many watts is your bulb? Low light would be if your light was 20 to 40 watts, medium- 40 to 80 watts, and bright-80 to 160 watts. It says the wattage on your bulb. Most plants need moderate-bright light. Anubis is good for starters, it's really hardy, and you can keep it in as low as 1 watt per gallon, so if your light was even as low as 20 watts you could still successfully keep it.

i have 40 watts on the 20 gallon that i want to start plants in.. i have dwarf frogs n snails in there.. the light is pretty bright and the tank isnt too big?? so anubis could work?? :)

hi iv gone down the fake road this time cos i have plant eaters now,but in the past iv had some lovely plants one thing tho i got them online cheep and got way too many main thing i found was they wer great for eatin dirt im lazy when it comes to water changes so they wer great for keepin the water good..but now i have fake i quite like them

#1 concern I have is that your JD and convict will uproot any terrestrially bound plant you introduce to your tank.

Single easiest plant I've ever kept is crypts honestly, they repopulate like mad even in poor lighting/water scenarios. They can deal with algae blooms as they just drop the affected leaves and grow new. I love giant Anubis it is the best looking of the easy plants IMHO. Java fern... won't die but never seems to flourish. Java moss I actually can't ever keep alive, it just withers and dies. All of those plants are herbivore safe I've kept them with duboisi, well except the java moss it just dies... Best thing about crypts is their price super cheap, gaint anubas is pricey to get a decent sized plant, and java fern is never as cheap as a wad of crypts. If you get java fern it does best when not rooted in the substrate but rather to a piece of drift wood as its roots pull stuff out of the water column and like the circulation.

my dwarf frogs and snails need good water quality so i have too keep up on the water changes :P the big tank will not be bothered til i succeed in plant keeping at all rofl!!!

so anubis could work?? :)
Yes. Anubias would be perfect. My old light was 1 watt per gallon, and it grew pretty fast. Since yours is 2 watts per gallon i would think it would do even better. Its good looking, too. :) How long is your tank?(Im guessing 30'')anubias.jpeg Also anubias is good for a tank with plant eaters like cichlids because it has tough leaves and fish hate the taste. I kept one with a piranha, too.

cool,,ya now that iv found this site i might change my mind about live plants, seeing as there is tons of ppl here that can advise on plants SD s wont eat,

Silver dollars are voracious plant eaters. Some tough plants are onion plants(crinum sp.), java fern, and java moss. These plants are rugged and taste bad. Also, Anubias too.
