NEVER listen to the instructions on a fish food packet

I had a packet of fish food that said: feed your oscar these pellets 4 times a day ...
i soon had a bunch of fungus growing on the uneaten food in the tank, yikes! well i managed to solve the problem
but i learnt my lesson, NEVER listen to the instructions on fish food packets!

You can feed 4 times a day but only feed the amount of pellets that your fish can consume each time..

It doesn't matter how many times you feed your fish a day, if you leave uneaten food in there it will rot...

he probably didn't like the food, it began to rot in 3 days! he spat a lot out, the sucking loaches didn't even eat any, so it MUST have been bad food.

regardless of the directions to feed ur fish, NEVER leave it in if its not eaten. the fact that u had said it had fungus after 3days says alot. try alot less next time. after 30 mins or so if its still floating remove it. old food can do alot of damage to ur fishes health.

Most of the fish food Ive bought over the years says to feed only the amount your fish will consume in a short period of time.
Why would you leave rotting pellets in the tank for 3 days?

He's new. Lesson learned. Offer the food, if he doesn't eat it within 5 minutes, reach in and take it out. Try again the next day. Hunger is the best spice. But do feed real food. No more than ONE of the first five ingredients should be corn, wheat, yeast or soy. You can trust HBH for the most part, Omega One and NLS are fine, too.

he DID eat it, he spat a lot out, i gave him what he could eat in three minutes, i checked the ingredients they WERE yuck! i got tetra cichlid sticks now and he LOVES them he doesn't spit anything out.
