I had my Tiger Oscar in a 55g barebottom at the time just bc its so hard cleaning up after that pig but when I finally decorated the tank I was very apprehensive to put any of my stock in with the O even though hes not that big 6-7 inches long but I did need a somone to maintain some level of cleanliness in there so I put in my common pleco which was about the same length as the O @ 5-6 inches

I came home one night after a long night out and the timers already shut all the lights off but I can still see sillouettes in my fish room and I was wondering why my common hadnt been in a pipe or under some very low slate caves I made for him to only fit inside Well I hit the master and the lights go on and my common is belly up Apparently my O tore the insides out of my pleco from the only vunerable place on their heavily armoured body I dont understand why he this happened he is is fed well and never showed signs of aggression this bad however for the first 6 months I had him he was in a 75 with a Largemouth Bass who showed me a thing or two about aggression when the bass was relocated back to my aunts 1.6 acre pond near Lake Thunderbird (where I caught him) the O was by himself and I noticed he liked to fight with the glass therm. pulling on the bottom until he lost his grip and I would have to listin to Clink Clink Clink all night long and he also liked to push this 2" PVC elbow all over the tank So Im wondering if what he did to my Pleco has anything to do with the fact that when left alone for only 30 mins with no toys in my livingroom my doberman tore the stuffing out of an entire loveseat When the O has PVC to push or a therm. to fight with or another fish he lived fine with that same Common Pleco for 6 months

Any tankmate suggestions for an O that flipped a pleco and ripped his body open? currently 55 gallons but later will be moved to 75 I currently have a Jaguar & Green Terror growing out in another tank

Every O has its own personality. I have had brawlers that settle down when older and become very protective. At the size of yours he is prob just a wild teenager. Are you sure the pleco didn't just kick the bucket and give the o something to play with? I recently had a 5"wild peruvian o kill and try to eat a 6"bichir. Caught him swimming around chewing on it .

No way, I had a long tailed chocolate pleco 7 inch, in with my 7 inch gold O and for a year they were budz, my pleco even went as far as latching onto the side of my O when he was sick and riding him around like those suckers on sharks but one mornin my GF found my pleco belly up with a kink in his tail so you never know with O's.

If plecos are sucking on another fish, it tends to mean that it is eating the slime coat, and is ultimately bad for the fish

Os have so many different personalities it's really hard to tell. I got two reds at 2'' out of a tank of 40 or so, one decided day one it was the boss, now we have to make caves and things for the smaller one to keep it's head down. The big guy is easily 3 times the size of the small one.
