Yes, they do. They are hardy but it's still best to put them in cycled water to avoid stress, burning the gills, etc. Additionally, a lot of water can contain metals and over time, without allowing that to be cycled out or treated, it'll kill your crayfish.

I've had crays eat fish. Also keep in mind they are scavengers too, they will eat any fish that dies. The cray may not have killed it.

My crays are awesome, they never eat my (living) fish. I've actually lost more fish to the red claw crabs than the crays. I have 6 crays, one of them carrying babys in a tank with about... 50 or so guppy's(they breed a lot..). Never had a problem.

They do however eat the dead ones, which is nice. if a fish dies over night, i possibly will never now it was missing.

Crays don't have a chance against my fish, but then again I keep puffers. They think crayfish are yummy.

Sorry for your losses. Crayfish are like little serial killers if the fish are small enough for them to kill, they will.

That's what generally happens. The most commonly procured of the cray species are highly aggressive or highly carnivorous (go figure, these are the ones people and stores usually sell, oy!). If you want crays with fish, you have to be REALLY careful about species selection and the set-up, even in short term arrangements.

most livebearers, guppies, and tetra species will rest on the aquarium bottom to sleep and thats why they get eaten with relative ease. the crayfish literaly "walks" up to them, grabs them and puts them in their mouth. they cant just snag one of your fish as it was swimming by or chase it through the water.

thats why arowanas never get eaten by crayfish. they are always swimming on the surface. if you choose fish that NEVER touch bottom, they will be safe 100% garantee.

Sorry for your loss. I lost a 2" softshell turtle to a 3" crayfish housed in a 125g, it never crossed my mind that there would be any risk there.
