I never had a mean Jaguar all of them have been pussies. period. Then again I never kept them past 5 inches... Got the feeling Jaguars were over-rated fish that couldn't even hang with an Oscar. My five inch girl has been bullied by a tiger oscar since August of 2014. The past two weeks she has been building a nest and flaring alot. This morning I was woken when something went nuts in the tank and I turned the lights on and my "wussy" was beating the living hell out of my oscar. Guess My stereotype was proven wrong. DONT underestimate your fish! learned this way for sure, I'm probably going to have to re-home the Oscar if things stay this bad. Can't wait for my Girl to grow some more! Hope to breed her someday:drool:

I'm not sure if you've ever seen a jaguar cichlid skull?
There's a thread here somewhere that has one.
Take a good look at those chompers. EEEK
Don't get me wrong Dovii are pretty scary too but yeah BIG difference in teeth compared to other cichlids
LOL I always thought they were called jaguars because of their color patterns.

I got a 3.5 in Male jaguar that is the biggest wimp I have and Honduran red point that is abut 3 in chases him around just hopping he comes around and starts getting a little more aggressive. Kind of embarrassing for the jag lol

Well maybe if you kept the fish longer than 4 months lol

I don't think anyone underestimates any species in the parachromis genus.

All my jaguars have been wussys too it was a total surprise she was building her nest and overnight just lost it on the Oscar who has bullied her the whole time I've had the two! Wait until he matures guarantee he will end up on top
