New 10'' Clown Loach and friends

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah that sounds about right for mine. Best bet for good growth is to give them a variety. Mine are not picky and will eat anything that goes in the tank..including fresh veggies, bloodworms, pellets sinking and floating.

What else is in your tank?

My juv festae (temporarily), tin foil and a juv African knife fish. Knife fish got a severe case of Ich so the kf and loach are being treated in a large tote. Festae is being treated by herself in my 55 and may or may not be in the same aquarium eventually. For now, after Ich is completely gone, loach, kf and tin foil will be in a 29g. My daughter brought home the knife, loach and tin foil last week. I would like for them to all go together but I would hate for my Festae to have a loach snack lol. Lucy (Festae) is about 3-3&1/2", knife is about 4", CL and tin are about 2"

I had bad new tonight when I came home from work.. .. my smallest clown died today. Measured it at 5.5". I was not a happy camper. I am planning to maybe buy a couple small loaches to make up for this.

My tank busted a couple weeks ago and I'm still working on recovering. My loaches have bad ich right now. I'm hoping my largest gets better fast. Doing the salt and temp treatment

My knife fish had a SEVERE case of Ich. Gave it to my Festae and CL too. I separated the knife and CL due to different treatment dosage. I turned my heat up to about 88°f, added 1/2 tablespoon salt and used half dose QuICK Cure and have been doing 30-40% wc daily and redosing with salt and med. They show no signs of Ich anymore but will continue treatment for another couple of days anyway.

I started treatment this past Saturday, may 10 and I'm impressed with how well the meds have worked considering I bought the QuICK Cure from good ol Walmart because fish stores were closed at 10pm lol.

Here's a pic of how bad the Ich was. Sorry it's kinda blurry.uploadfromtaptalk1399991691937.jpguploadfromtaptalk1399991706564.jpg

I saw your thread on this last Friday. My clowns are going thru a case just as bad as yours. I hope your babies get better soon!

So far they are all doing very well and all the Ich appears to be gone. I don't want to jump the gun and end up in the same boat within a week or 2 so I'm continuing to treat an extra few days.

I hope yours get well soon too.

Thanks. I just started the salt and hi temp treatment last night and marked up the calendar. I'm hoping mine make it through today and tomorrow.

Good luck and I'm hoping yours and mine a speedy recovery.

Hoping the best outcome for all. It would be a huge loss if something happened to the big clown loach. Just go easy on the salt.

I know. I'm nervous about going home tonight. I don't know what I'll find anymore.

I added salt very gradually and increased the temp slowly too. They had a good bit of time to adjust for the treatment. I almost went with the quickcure bit decided against it. Salt has worked for me before. Fingers crossed!

When I move the fish into the new tank I will try to remember to measure and take a pic for record so we know for sure how big my largest clown is. I'm so curious!
