New 100 gallon, Magnum 350 cannister

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey I also have a Topfin 60 gal top water filter that I am not using. It's loud as heck but maybe I can use that with the 350 until I can get the other 350 up and running?

I can run 2 bio filter cartridges/inserts with the Topfin.

Then run mechanical/chemical/make-shift bio on the 350?

So I have access to:

1 Topfin (2 cartridge) top water filter
1 Magnum 350

100 gallon freshwater tank.

Ok I talked to dad. When he ran this tank he ran saltwater with a undergravel filter on sand (that was his bio filter). Then he used the 350 as a mechanical filter.

So I am packaging back up the new 350 I purchased, and I am going to exchange it for a more bio driven canister filter.

I can however use his old 350 for anything I like. Will prob just use it as mech like he did, since that seems to be what it is best at.

Ok here is my new setup,

1 Rena FilStar xP3 (sponge, bio, chemical)
1 Marineland Magnum 350 (pure mechanical - micron + mesh), this thing is almost 15 years old I might add! new gaskets and still works like a beast!

Ph was 6.7-6.8

I am using Seachem Neutral Regulator to remove the chlorine, cholramine and ammonia.

I am now drinking beer watching all this stuff do it's thing. lol

I will prob only run the 350 overnight, then turn it off and only use it as needed (periodic water polishing/gravel vacuming).

Thanks for all the help guys! I feel like I learned a lot today no doubt. I will try to get some pictures once everything cycles and the water clears up.
