For Bettas you really should have plants that are a bit longer than the distance between the substrate and top. They are a lot more comfortable if they have plants floating on top to hang out in.

And have you considered a big group of female Bettas instead of one male? My experience has been that you need about 10 gallons per female. Watching a group of females interact is a lot more entertaining that just watching a male.

Thanks for the advice, and I think I'd rather have one male, but that's just me.

Added a couple more plants and some air bubbles. And 32 Neons :naughty:
