I didn't say peacock mantis there are plenty of smaller species you just have to look more to find them... Everyone assumes giant peacocks when you say mantis shrimp... its ok tho
YOU KNOW WHAT!!!

You are right, I did assume that.

But I also assumed that they all got too large to keep in that size of tank. :(

So you are right.

I dug this article up...good read, perhaps the OP may be interested.

Correct.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I have looked into mantis shrimp and i think they are pretty awesome, but i'd like to give cultivating pods and such a try. So suspending an algae scrubber over the tank will help pod cultivation? could someone post a picture of this? that sounds like a really great idea and i'd like to give it a try

Wouldn't he have to make a sump for the algae scrubber?

Technicaly no, but there is no reason why a 10gal couldnt have a sump haha, I've seen designs where the scrubber was incorporated into the lid of the tank.

Would it be effective to glue one to the lid so that it touches the top of the water?

not really, you need a good amount of water flowing over it so that it can suck nutrients out of it better having just siting on the water would be ineffective. That and you want a good amount of light on it as well.

He would have to buy a pump to run the water throu the tubes wouldnt he? I think I see what your talking about now
