Ok guys would you think a jaguar cichlid would work in the 125 for a yr or so till I get the 300?

A parachromis managuense will live a long time in a 125. I would also suggest you look into Amphilophus species. I LOVE amph's and they are glass bangers. Great personality. Most amph's would do fine for life in a 125. Fairly inexpensive as well
