thanks a bunch! I built it over the course of 2 days spending about 4-5 hours each day on it and then a 3rd day just to paint it. But then of course when I started painting it i became more critical and filled in more wood and sanded more parts down lol.
one of the other reasons I had to build the stand was so it'd fit my sump that I got for it! Overall I'm pretty happy with the results! I'll be putting the tank together this weekend sometime after Saturday so I'll post more pictures of it with water in it!
So apparently my measurements were an 8th of an inch off and the trim was bent in a bit too much on one part when I went to the warehouse for a "fitting" so going to have to put a small wedge on the right side to fix it, also I guess the trim on the left front corner dropped while i was screwing it in and it was about a quarter inch too low so another fix on that... otherwise works great!
lol! shes always following me around and just wanted to help! Hopefully your project goes well! Ive finally got mine all set up and fish swimming in it! Just shopping around for plants!
So I've got a few more pics of it set up now! just need to finish getting plants for it and it'll b all finished and set up! These pics were taken over a period of 48 hours... using tetra's water conditioner, followed 8 hours later by API's Stress Zyme+ which I let sit for about a day until I dropped in 2 sponge filters and the fish. So far, I've lost no one
Stuffed into my E:
Fish all in their travel containers!
Freshly moved into the room:
Filling it up!
Floating some of the wood!
added some sand (about 100lbs of pool filter sand, maybe less) and Texas Holey Rock
next day added the fish:
Then Some amazon swords and another plant the store had labled as "Aluminum" so I'm not too positive what it is, because it looked like a Red Reuben with tentacles lol.
The lighting I'm using (which I forgot to take pics of... sorry) are two different shop lights found at The Home Depot. First being the T8 all weather and the second being a basic T12 one, but totaling 144wats in total! the T8s are Daylight bulbs and the T12s are plant bulbs. I cut 5" pieces of a 1x1 and screwed them into the under side of the hood which is where the lights are screwed into.
The sump return you and see in the top hanging next to the overflow box I use 3/4" fittings from The Home Depot as well as some Hose to ftp fittings. I then painted it black using plastidip spray paint. Through the back which you cant see at all I have a 1" black vinyl tubing clamped to the pvc which starts in the sump clamped to a QuietOne 6000.
