New 125 gallon Diy stand build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So mainly due to funds available I decided to not fully skin the stand for now and see how it looked with what I had available. I figured I could always go back and skin it in place.

Funny enough I had an old fence panel that I never used from when I had to replace our fence last year after the hurricane and was able to make barn looking doors out of it!

I added a few more 2x4 for bracing as well and installed the top and top trim. Again, all from post hurricane panels and scrap wood... haha

So here's were we are now. Next step, staining :)

Looks good

Quick question. I know that for rimless tanks people put foam under the tank.

Is there any benefit on doing this for a rimmed tank? Or can I just sit it directly on the stand without worries.

This is my first big aquarium so I'm trying to get everything just right. The thought of it it bursting for some reason is mildly terrifying lol

A plastic trim tank does not need styro or foam underneath it.

Quick question for you though, did you use plywood or OSB on the top of the stand? It looks like OSB that you also stained the same color as the stand.

Thank you!

Yeah the top is just osb.

It will not be visible for the most part once the tank is in place but I decided to apply a thick coat of stain as the one I bought also contains poly mixed in. To make it a little more water resistant.
