Beautiful fish! Love that driftwood as well. I really should start avoiding the piranha forums, the piranha itch is getting bigger and bigger it seems!

Same here! But I don't have the space :(
VET your p's are awesome!

I hope you don't mind the question, but VET, having one yourself, what would you consider the minimum tank size for keeping a rhom for a period of over 2 years, and for life?

Lets say 4". Yeah of course it varies because of factors like activity etc. , but just a general guideline?

If u get a baby like me and mike they can be housed in anything 10gal and up, mine grew out almost 3 months in my 10, then my 90 was free and now he will likely spend Atleast 5 years in it! It's easier to keep a 10 clean and a 50% wc is 5 gal. Whatever u have laying around. A general rule of thumb is 5-10gal per inch of rhom. Any rhom 5+ inches needs Atleast a 40b imo. And adults 10+ inches need Atleast a 75. They grow pretty slow, a baby would take years and years and years to hit 10". And no worries about the questions Bro!

Here's my 90:

Thanks guys! ;)
Mike you have one of the most awesome serra's one the forum!:)
The reason why I was asking, is that when I get my big tank next year my current 60 gal will be empty. At first I wanted a SW single moray tank, but seeing the amount of money a SW tank needs, and the awesome Rhoms you guys have, I'm tending to getting one for that tank. If I do obviously I will have to research a lot beforehand.

I would not recommend a 10 gallon for a 4 inch rhom if you want max growth. It's already a slow grower so you def don't want to slow it down anymore

I'd recommend 40b or 55 as soon as possible. My 6 incher is in a 75

Thanks man. If youre looking around 4-6", id say a 60 would be fine for a long time. Rhoms are one of those fish that just dont get close to their max size in captivity (yet). I believe the biggest recorded aquarium grown rhom got to like 10-11" in its lifetime. If you havent already, take a look at ruby red spilos. Imo, the best smaller sized serra.

Thank you, the tank in question is a 60 gal.

Getting a ruby red spilo here is next to impossible. Serrasalmus are very seldomly imported into Germany, and even Rhoms are sold for crazy prices compared to the US.

Chub ur better of buying a baby if you can find one, way cheaper and great satisfaction of raising your own. Any rhom is sweet but I wouldn't want a emancipated 5" for 80$ that's been fed goldfish and hamburgers its whole life. Get it young, give it NLS and fresh fish and lots of space, that way its a for sure stunner :headbang:

Baller yea a 4" rhom is a NO NO for a 10gal lol... Max 11/2"-2"
