What's a good filter and heater for this size tank? I need a filter that would only require me to do a weekly or biweekly water change. Not planning to overstock the tank.

Do a sump. Or a big canister or two which are expensive or like 3 HOB filters.

In reality you dont need a heater specified for the tank. I live in Wisconsin where its really cold in the winter and a 29 gallon rated heater heated my 55 just fine.

A good start would be a big HOB like an AC110 and good sized canister like a xp3 or xp4. Then you can add more depending on your stock list.

I always see people mention the word fluval and I know they're filter related. Anyone care to tell me something about it?

I have a 125 and use 3 110 Aqua clear filters and it works great! It all depends on the bio-load/amount of fish in the tank.

I would get a canister filter or do a sump for a tank of that size. Power filters will require more changes since they don't hold a high volume of water like a canister filter.
