New 180 Gallon Tank filtration questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Upon further inspection yes there is.
This is what I am working with, one of the pictures show the support beams, another shows the structure of the support beams. The tank is going to go on the other side of that AC unit (pretty much right after it), which makes the area inaccessible due to all the AC pipes. I could put the tank on the side of the AC unit I can easily access but there is less room there, and it's where I have my current setup which I would rather not move if possible. The tank will go perpendicular to the support beams.

I found a different tank. Awaiting confirmation, but it is believed to be 72x28x18 for $450 includes stand, filter, heater, and a bunch of other stuff but I will probably just use those as backups. It's currently setup so I can probably skip the cycling process if done properly. Only problem is it has an Oscar, which I don't have to take but it is a different type of bioload than I will have.

Also for a large tank, call around to glass stores, they might be able to make you a tank. I'm currently getting my 180 made for $800 CDN and that's with a centre overflow.

You will be much happier with these dimensions. I have the 30" deep 150 like the original tank you mentioned and it's hard to maintain, decorate and filter.
Why is an oscar a different bio load? Are you going with saltwater?
If you don't have to take the oscar, I wouldnt.

Update: Got the tank, the dimensions were wrong it is 60"x24"x18" so 112 gal (advertised 125) with that in mind I got him down to $250 for the tank, stand, light (not very good going to replace) and a rena filistar xp3 (maybe xp4) filter. I am going to stop using this thread, as most of the original posts are completely wrong now. Thanks for the help.
