Would discus be safe with arowanas and motoro stingrays? How pristine do you have to keep the water?

As I said in an earlier post.....

"Frank from the Netherlands has some great fish in his tank, he's into stingrays in a big way. Have a look at the pic on his homepage - http://www.freshwaterstingray.nl/Fra...s/English.html - Asian Aro, Discus and rays...."

That should answer your question.... and, as mentioned before, pristine water will be a must to keep them happy and in good condition.

Hope you go down this route, it would make a beautiful set up, one I'd love to do myself.

Coming in late, but that is a AWESOME looking tank!

I'd fill it with NA natives. A largemouth bass, half dozen or so bluegills, another half dozen shiners, a catfish or two, a few other sunfish (pumpkinseeds, warmouth), lots of guppies/fathead minnows/gambusia,

he's also in canada so idk why he would want NA natives..and i dont think thats what he wants for an office type tank...

if you go with rays becarful with what you put in the tank(rocks driftwood etc) i would go with sand or vary smooth rocks for subtracte and driftwood is fine as long as it isnt to sharp(if it is you could sand parts down)

well whatever you decide to stock it with good luck and post some pics it will be an awsome tank

Although not huge, a large mixed school of M. Argentus, and M. Schomburgki would look nice. maybe throw in some Red Hooks into it as well.
Agreed, also, even though the tank is very large, the width and height restrict the fish size to about 24" though aros would work.
How about Black bar dollars, redhooks, black hooks, lima cats, black ghost knives, Brycon insignis (pic), Brycon hilaris (pic), and a couple royal panaque?

Natives!!!

Bluegill
Warmouth
pickrel
bullhead cats
greensunnies
gars
large mouth bass
small mouth bass
longear
pumpkinseeds
dollar sunnies
the list goes on!!!!!

post that you want these fish for that tank, and see how fast people volunteer to send you what ever native fish you need for free

this tank screams big bold south/central american color. im thinking 2-3 inches of sand. driftwood arrangements at each corner, a mix of swordplants throughout with maybe some dwarf lily bulbs you can pick up at walmart.
<p>
for fish: not all together, just some good suggestions, bolded are ones i have
chocolate cichlid, mines rather shy but theyre all different
severums
pair of altifrons(pictured below)
nicaraguensis(macaw/parrot cichlid)
maybe even a blood parrot for color(the orange non-dyed one and if you dont advocate keeping hybrid fish, this isnt the place to discuss it)
1 lone salvini, ive seen better color in the females as well as less aggression(beautiful fish)
a few uaru (again pictured below)
a school of some type of the larger cories(im yet to have one eaten by larger fish esp. if introduced before the others)
scarlet or some other exotic pleco or a mix of a few(the scarlet can get around 14")
and some pike cichlids or aro for the top

depending on what other fish and what overall direction you go, discus are alwasy a showstopper when done right. i dont think youll be able to aquascape all that much if you go for rays.

heres some picture to entice you. i especially like the tank with the large mix of fish in it.

note: these pictures are not mine. they were taken from other users and from other websites. i do not take credit for them.
