New 24 foot tank...need stocking advice

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
HOLY CRAP!:nilly: that tank looks amazing with the wall in and everything. Cant wait to see it fully stocked (with some asian arows :headbang2 )

Go with an Asian Cyprinid style tank. They are peaceful and active, and you can have alot of options.

Schools of Bala Sharks, Tiger Barbs, Rosey Barbs, and Clown Barbs (20 of each, atleast.)

Add a few Blue, Gold, Opaline, Platinum, Pearl and any other Gourami's you can find, just not large ones.

Do a school of laid-back catfish on the bottom.. Although not from Asia, a school of Brochis (Emerald Green Corys) would be nice, as they get large but are still peaceful and have little bio-load. Clown Loaches, although expensive, would be very impressive in that tank with a school of 20+..

These fish all get a reasonable size, active, and colorful. They will all eat flakes easily, and are low maintenace. These are the types of fish I see used VERY OFTEN for doctor-office accounts of a friend. If you look around, you can find a number of other good 'Barbs' that have good color and easy maintenance.

Sorry guys - a tank like this has no business being stocked with monster predators. As it's on display for his customers, it needs to be pristine. Monsters will make a mess of that tank in a hurry, and since it's viewed from all 4 (8?) sides, there is no hiding it.

I see a freshwater plant tank as being the best choice for this setup, by far. Maintenance can be reasonable, you can stock it with a variety of active vibrant colored fish, and the aquascape can be jaw dropping if done right. Check out Oliver Knott's website for a few ideas.

that would look really great with a curtain of live plants with a schoool of discus swimming around and a noble red arowana >.< and a big school of cardinals and cories.. you can probably talk to the LFS to see if they can order it in as a whole sale lot

Now THAT would look great in this tank......the mad thing is, this thing is so big, you can't see it all in one go! Although you would from INSIDE the office...Hey Blaker, can you post up some pics from the other side....wow, can't believe none of us has mentioned that before!

That tank is going to be stellar once complete! Great job! If only my office looked like that!
