New 240 gallon stocking (peacock bass question)

I think he means to have something like an fx5 or whatever for mechanical and then put a 5 gallon pail above the tank and have the output from whatever canister go into the pail with bioballs or dish scrubbies in it like a w/d and then have an outlet at the bottom of the pail draining into the tank. I have seen similar setups on here before as well. Only problem I see is if a power outage happens than the media will dry out instead of staying wet like in a sump, unless there is a way around this...

The scrubbies are a great idea if you want to set up your own sump or a variation there of. I was saying that instead of setting up a 5 gal bucket/pail you might as well do an FX5 instead. Then you have a better more fail safe system that won't leave you high and dry, literally in the event of a power interruption. I was suggesting that you use Eheim media instead of Fluval because in my opinion it is engineered better and you can optimize the FX5 performance using Eheim media. You should find out if Gars are permissible in the Aloha state. I can pet mine.

I asked about the gars in one of my threads, and its a no. The only possible way to get one is if its accidently sent to a LFS labeled as something else.

Yeah those damn Pacu's can get the size of a trash can lid.

the ones at underwaterworld would be closer to the whole trash can with the lid lol :D
