New 270 gallon characin tank

Ended up removing all 6 wide bars and put them in the 600....I should of done that in the first place to reduce the crowd since they get pretty large......so stock is now

1 vatf
1 juruense
1 BD hybrid ray
3 tat payaras
6 thin bars SDs
6 tiger SDs

Thinking about a black arowana and 3 cudas

My vatf is such a pussy all he will eat Is pellets won't even touch tilapia or shrimp.....don't want to mix the tig with juru....I have a 55 and 75 grow out with 6 diff types of p bass I'm growing out for my 600.....and as far as Dats go I feel like they would be out of place



What's the stock on ur 270 gonna be?.....

Keep in mind I just graduated from school so money is tight and this is strictly a growout tank. But arowana, 3x IT dats, 1x NGT dat, 1x kelberi pbass, 1x VATF, and 2x BD rays.

Silly question, but is ur stand exactly 6' x 3'? I was thinkin of just 1 sheet of plywood on the bottom. BTW I bought the laguana 2400 max flo for the sump.

Nice u should get around 2000 gph roughly with that pump after taking out head loss so about 7.5 turnover rate which is good ......my stand is exactly 6x3 and 30 inches tall.....it was perfect for the base .....if you are making a stand go 6x3 exactly

I used all 2x6s and about 175 screws lol. Used plywood on top .....I believe the plywood was slightly thicker then 1/2 inch......cost me about $60 to make including screws.... ..if you wanot I can send u more pics of the stand and design if ur interested

The only time I lost money this fast was when I finally found ONE Pleuro and before it swam to hiding, got gulped down...
I found pieces of cudas EVERYWHERE. Expensive Arowana food is all cudas are, really... :(

Edit: My aro was a silver, though. And my first cudas lived alright with the jardini...

Silver Arowanas are usually peaceful not going after certain fish just whatever will usually fit in their mouths.....your cudda was prob too small that was the issue not due to species of fish
