How bout a pair of Firemouths? Have a heavy wood/rock scape and some Vals along the back couple of tropic swords and maybe some dwarf sag in the front. Lightly planted but yet very attractive. Id get some Fourite black sand and go for a black background. Id also include a golden bristlenose pleco, and a small shoal of serpae tetras(something thick to avoid the FMs from eating them).

i have a bunch of small peaceful cichlids in my 29g. i have curviceps, krobia,a small severum (not good for full grown), bolivian ram, albino bristlenose pleco, and its planted with java fern (only thing that wont get eaten) i also have a few brigs in there

I picked up the tank... it is looking really nice!
It is set up... im planning on getting substrate tomorrow. I will be going away for a week so I am hoping to have it running by when i go away (to cycle). Im leaving Friday.

Also discus dont like being kept with large, fast fish. It scares them.
i might do like 4 rams and some cardinals or rummy nose
