New 300, what to put in it.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I almost went with the 390 at 30 inches wide and 30 tall. I couldn't justify the extra 900 bux for the tank though. The showroom is in the process of getting set up. I'll start a different thread with pictures and progress. So far the plan is 650 gallon reef pond, 120 in wall coral reef, 180 aggressive saltwater FOWLR tank, 150 bow for African cichlids, a 92 planted corner, and a cppl smaller themed tanks for the drs. I'm having all the stands custom made of box steel with adjustable feet. I'm open for other tank suggestions as well. Thanks for looking.

I'm pretty sure the aro is fine because they are so flexible and snake-like.

I think adding a gar would be a bad idea because(and correct me if I'm wrong) I've heard the there is a lot of aggression issues between gars and arowana fighting for top water territory.

As for other tank mates. A vulture catfish would be cool. They look like a big pictus catfish that usually only max out at around 20" and are very active.

I think a pair of cichla monoculus would also be cool.

Possible some type of bichir like an ornate.

Should have gotten the 30" wide or even 36", 24" will be alright for a while but will be cramped when its a full grown adult.

If your black arrow is the theme, I wouldn't consider pbass, they are nice, but I think the pbass being aggressive and colorful will steal the show. KISS, single arow on top, a school of silvers dollars (middle) some (large) earth eaters (bottom) and more clown loaches ranging in all sizes for the bottom. Good luck on the setup.

Since you have a large tank i would get one of the endli variants preferably the P.E. Congicus they are the largest species and are monsters. They to me are a must have.

will be a bit craamped up for stingrays.. they'll outgrow the width of the tank soon enough.. perhaps a school of adult blood parrots? the aro will stand out lik a champ! :-)

It really depends on what you specialize in if you would say you have one, if you sell a lot of cichla display some nice specimens etc. For anything you sell a lot of, or if you want it to just be for a wow factor I would do the arowana, some earth eaters, some big bichirs (ornate, teugelsi, endli, congicus, lapreidi, bichir bichir).
