New 300g stocking help

I will be getting a 6' tank in less then 6 months. Should I use it as a spill over tank and try to balance 2 communities between it and the 300? Or should I take one male I have now and pair him with a female? If I form a pair my top 2 choices are between the carpintis and sagittae. Only reason to go with the sagittae is because I think he might be too much for a community. Im looking for opinions. What would you do? What fish would you pair off from this list?

Sagittae may be fun to breed. Not a lot of them in the hobby.

Nothing new with this tank. All fish are growing except for the argentea. Somehow this group is working together well.
