He's 28" and I've had him for 6 years. He was a tiny baby only 4" or so when I got him.

I salute you for taking proper care or your show piece, what a beauty.

Eventually went with 4 EHeim Pro3 canisters.
1 x 2078e with just chemicals (biochem, nitrazorb, purigen) outputting through a 72w UV.
2 x 2180's (with built in 500w heaters)
and
1 x 2080
All output through diffusers for oxygen enrichment
I also have put two Eheim 2252 internal filters in there for more current.

Got the light on and added the final filter underneath. The tank is actually a really odd size its 90" x 46" x 32" when I measured it so its slightly bigger then I was told so its more like 570 gallons rather then 450 which I'm happy about but my filtration calculations were off so I added another 2080 to make sure it was easy as the plumbing was there already. The stand looks great with the mercedes paint but does throw off a lot of reflections as you can see from the pics.
He scratched his dorsal when I was putting him in but its healing up nicely and he's back eating although he won't touch his feeders I put in to tempt him back to eating. (too used to being hand fed ...he's very spoiled)
