Chen, great looking tank compared to my little 180g!!!!! Loved your vids. Just that red aro in the tank would have been enough for me.....but the rays, ST...........way cool bro.

I read your whole post. I keep a wc moba colony and can only imagine the amount of $$$ you have invested in your tank and stock. I used a single stage Ranco for about 3 years until it went haywire on me. Fortunately my wife was home and saw my water temp rise from 78 to around 85 and I asked her to disconnect the heaters. The Ranco was set to go over 200+ degrees after a surge/spike in my home. I have 2 500w titanium heaters in my 180g that I bought from Jehmco. I replaced with a Johnson single stage controller about 3 years ago and all is well. I have a Lifegard Big Temp on my wall right above my tank that I can monitor when sitting in my den. It gives the tank temp and room temp.

What I am considering purchasing is an Apex Controller like the saltwater reefers use to control their heaters, lighting, pumps.........The feature that I think would benefit me is having the unit text me when my water temp exceeds 84 degrees let's say. The unit can be remotely controlled via your phone or computer via the web. That feature alone would give me a peace of mind. Something to consider as we have all heard horror stories about someone's heater sticking and cooking their fish.

Kudos again on the great set up bro!!!!!!!!! BTW, where did you get the ball-shaped aeration stones? I need to get me some.

well...the new setup is to say the a bit loud!...I'll be putting the silencer on the overflow's and also put on pink rigid insulations on most of the walls of the cabinets but still hear the pumps ....what other methods have you guys used to keep the noise at a lower level?

My overflows are filled to the top with bio media and make no noise. Sequence pump is virtually silent.
