hey im troy 14 years young from australia i have 2 tanks(turtle and fish tanks) im looking a getting a 5ft tank for about $300 au. i am in a delemor about what to go with salt or more freshwater. i worked out the the approximate cost for fresh water to get it all up and running about $900 au. i have no idea about salt water well over $2000 im guessing after the live rock and corals are in there. any suggestions or ideas i would be happy to hear. thanks for the time. Troy:)

I would do fresh B/c the cost and your age. unless you have a job that can support salt then go fresh. IMO it's easier to manage. But other may say otherwise

Go fresh young man! Go fresh! :D

Fresh all the way, the initial setup costs for sw are scary as are maintenance, if you want sw wait until later down the line

Certainly FW.:D What fish have you decided to keep?

:welcome: to MFK!

freshwater is good. however, you could always do a FOWLR salt tank. that keeps cost down because lights dont need to be anything special and money isnt spent on corals. that would make your setup cost only slightly higher than freshwater. It would be awesome the species you could keep in there.

:iagree: with the majority of the members above and say Fresh water, far easier to maintain and much cheaper than salt to run.
