they grow kinda fast this is ur first tank? biggest tank? mine is 5 inches and i have ad him for 8 months they usually stay right under a foot in this hobby if im not mistaken
i know there are btr preds but he wants an aggresive cichlid that will be fun to watch eat(imo they are very funny when they eat mine darts into the gravel trying to get goldfish i like it at least i would reconmend the O

the only gar/pike i would recommened is a grass pickeral(native)(hard to get)
maybe needle nose but garsare kindof boring imo they just sit there until feeding time(oscars arealmost always active

yea i checked out the needlenose and i saw it just swimming in place at the top of the water, something a little more active for me
