DON'T DO IT!!! STEP AWAY FROM THE NEM!!! Just be patient, less chance of losing live stock and money.

Yes, nems are very sensitive to any change in the water. I have heard stories of people's entire systems just going down the toilet after their nem died. Also how long has the tank been set up? The general rule of thumb is to wait a year for any nems.

do yourself a favor and just DONT get an anemone at all. Sure they are pretty etc. but you are new and the tank is small. Its not a matter of if it will die but when. I am not questioning your abilities, simply the setup. You could lose your whole stock. If you must get one ONLY consider the bubble tip and wait quite a long time. Go for a frogspawn or torch coral, they look similar. Ive had clowns host them too. You dont want to lose your whole stock. 55 gallons with live rock is not much space so I would recommend clownfish, gobies, small wrasses etc... more nano types of fish. Avoid any damsels. they get territorial and will destroy any fish you will try to add.

Ok yea most people online say not to get one so I think I'll just forget it. Yea I wasn't planning on getting damsels. I bought the tank off someone who has has it running for 8 months

personally I find nem's easier to care for than most corals - problems arise when ppl buy them and they don't understand how to care for SW animals by creating a matured eco-system - this takes a year or more.
