New 55 Gallon Stocking Questions!!!!

convicts are always cool, and the assorted cichlids with alot of color...
i have 3 live plants and no one has been tearin my stuff up so far lol.
Some cichlids aren't as aggresive as what certain people say so dont be afraid to try something new! - welcome!

That is funny-I've kept swortails w/ firemouths and convicts for years :screwy: I agree about the angels.

Eh? Eh?.... Sounds cool to me! Would be a good chunk of color. I agree on the gravel, and do just a couple fake plants as they really don't need em and they tend to dig in the gravel uprooting plants anyway. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
 
remember sal is around 7 inches plus 2 7 inch firemouth an 2 possible 5 inch con's
 
Five males in a tank could be trouble even at 75 or 90 gallons. I wouldn't worry about the potential size as much as the aggression. Could work though. People seem to forget that a fish doesn't have to reach its max size to be healthy and not all do.

The swordtails might not make it, but you never know. As for the Salvini, if you really want one, go with a female. They have more color and don't get as big.
 
Sounds cool. I was going to say, I actually was doing some looking on cichlidfish's old posts at his robertsoni and was going to recommend one of those. They are beautiful fish. But looks like you got a good set up. Far as the sword tails, do you want them to breed providing a constant supply of snacks for the bigger fish? If you want them to breed, and if you are getting only 5, I would get more females then males. Like 2 males 3-4 females. Just a thought. Good luck and post pics!
 
so what would work better 3 angels or 4? i dont know if there is a better number of the two? what is the best to balance out aggression?
