New 55 gallon tank

rainbow cichlid may work... it's the right temperament...get them at the same time they may get along well..I still think with an ebjd "solo" cichlid is the way to go (less stress ) and a striped raphy would work fine
 
no , uv won't be needed ,imo, just keep up on big wc's... that should cover anything the uv does
 
I wouldnt get an asian bb cat with an ebjd I just got one and had to move him into a 55 gal with an oscar that is 4.5 inches. The asain (2 inches) beat the crap out of a clow loach and was starting to get into it with a yellow acara.

Raph would look cool check out the spotted raphs very good looking.

I feel you jaws, first night I had my Asian bb back in February it beat the $hit out of my Molly and gourami!!!
