New 55gal tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well I set up my filter in the tank last night before going to bed. Woke thismorning to still not being able to see within 2' into the tank. Hopefully within the next 24-48hrs it will clear. I do have a fluval 305 canister filter hooked up to it. I was wondering if this will do the job on for the tank plus I was wondering what substrates I should layer into the canister and in what order would do the best work.

Also not to be too anxious but I would absolutely LOVE to get started on putting the inside of the tank together. I was wondering if I started to put items inside the tank(plants, rocks ect...) would that speed up or slow down the process of clearing it up?

puting things in the tank wont speed it up and shouldnt slow it down unless you make a big sand strm and currently on my 75 gallon i have two fluval 404 but a 305 should be good depending on the stock you choose you can never over filter look on ebay you can get 404s for 85 bucks with free shipping in mine i run fluval bio max porcelain beads in all the chambers you can never have to much bio media

Marineland stealth heaters are my favorite. They are plain black, so very inconspicuous in the tank. a 200 watt would be fine.

You only need so much biomedia. After that you are wasting money.
