Impulsively set this baby up last night as well as rescuing a blue male betta from a cylinder of confinement. I rescued a beautiful red and white female crown tailed betta and purchased as well as a blue ram. I have a baffled emperor 280 running on it. I might be pushing the overcrowding limit on this tank because I thought it was a 10 gal hex. The male betta is about an inch an a half. The female betta is about an inch. The ram is about 6/8 of an inch. My male betta is a nippy one.uploadfromtaptalk1355121740354.jpg

i dont know if that will work long term. rams should be in a 10g and male bettas beat up females. good luck

Thanks for the replies guys. Yeah I will most likely do something about the ram. I thought my tank was bigger than it is before i measured it. I want to make the bettas work though i might try breeding them.

you have an empoer 280 on a 5 gallon???? talk about overfiltered, does it push the fish around?

It did at first but then i heard about baffling the filter. I heard that overfiltered is better than underfiltered.

I will most likely use this filter on a bigger tank one day. My next tank im aiming for is a 125 gal so the 5gal might just ride with the emperor for a while. Unless a find a 55 for dirt.

I have a 3 gallon betta tank in my office. I wouldn't put 2 bettas together in a 5 but it might work. Use some plants for cover. I use a mini power filter so the current won't be too strong.
