Ph is really not a big concern as much as nitrates / water quality / and food ,,, I used to soak my shrimp in vitamin supplements like the refrigerated vitamin C stuff u can get and make my my own shrimp mush using Nori and powdered algea at health food store frozen or fresh peas and freeze it in ice trays or large ziplock bags and snap some off when feeding ... That seemed to be the best way to treat preventatively and if they had it feed them (if u get them to eat )the medicated Flagyl / metro...that would be ideal treatment ,,,,but yea ur ph is what it is from ur water source and since most carry the parasite anyway in their intestines and only break out when water quality and food require requirements aren't met it really doesn't matter as much if any at all
I'll go definitly for an automatic ( or easier ) water change to do it more frequently. And the food can help me.
I have another problem with the new babies, one of them ( Melanie ) sometimes rubs on the bottom.I think it is Ichtyo.
If would be Ichtyo ( now I'm waiting to be sure ) what do you suggest to do.
In this tank ( 200 gal ) there are 10 little cichla, 3 melanie,3kelberi,2mono,2orino of around 3 inch.
Can I use the medicine like faunamor, costawert, punktol ( all of them have blu metilene ) with this little fish?
Give some help
Thank you

No, use salt and higher temps 88f.

Sent from my iPhone using MonsterAquariaNetwork app

Agree high temps and gradually lower it if u have a uv even better like 88-89 for 4 days kills it 86 for 7 days then back to 80 if u gotta air bubble throw it in more oxygen better works every time

Ok, but why don't you use medicine and you prefer to rise temp + salt ?
And what kind of salt , what percent ?
In the past I used medicine several time with adults with good results, now I'm afraid becouse they are babies.
Excuse for all my doubts, but last month 4 of my PB died and a don't want to repeate that experience!

Try the salt and high temp first. If it does not work after about a week use meds for sure! Do big water change before salt. Ich nothing to worry about

Higher temps have always worked for me seems to be a lot less stress in the fish then meds I've seen more meds kill them then higher temps young will handle it better anyway just do what I said on the temp schedule and ill be fine as long as the ich hasn't completely taken over the fish and he's laying on his side and use plenty of airation airstone ,, salt is optional just get some aquarium salt from pet smart and dump it In ur sump just helps with electrolyte absorbtion ,,, it will work they will just be more aggressive and some will be more hungry because of metabolism ,,, most fish can tolerate heat especially Pbass if u have Rays they will almost eating and become less active but won't die ,,, let us know and again I would do this before meds 100x over through experience and what I've seen thru the years

At the moment no more rubs, so I think doesn't was ICHTYO.A
Another issue: PH=7.9 KH=21 GH=19, is it accettable for cichla?
Thank you to everybody.
