i'd sooner have agressive than non, i don't like boring fish. a freshwater stingray would be nice, but where can i find one cheap? (if there is a such thing as a cheap stingray). and aros get big, wouldn't they get too long to turn around in a 1 foot wide tank?

somebody answer this please

I know I wouldn't permanently house an arowana in a foot wide tank. But it would do okay for a while.

In a tank that size, I would go with some midsize african cichlids myself. Here is one of my favorites. I have a group of these growing up in my 100. Can't wait for the males to color up:

i did really well with a jack dempsey silver gar and rhino pleco with convicts for dithers

the tank got dirty quick big fish equals big mess, oversized fillter and regular cleaning is a must

i have a jack dempsey already that i could transfer into this tank....but a silver gar? gars get big i know that much. dont want a fish that can't turn around in the tank.

Man i had a wicked looking 14 inch clown knife , cost me 65 bucks, that though it was a good idea to annoy my oscar currently 12 inches and got him self killed. Not a bright fish

I have a Needle Nose Pencil Gar in a 18 gal and he is doing fine so far he is not sappose to get over 12" long so not all gars get big. also i think eels do very well with aggresive fish i intro'ed a 3 in oscar with a 3 1/2 green terror and the terror won and i had to give the oscar to a friend but i intro'ed a like 6 in eel and the bugged it for a sec and then went about there day. also eels are really human resonsive and i hand feed mine.

ya i go for eels but i perfer bichirs

What you put in there are you plannin on keepin for life in that tank? If your goin with aggressive fish bro, next time get a tank that is WIDER, at least two feet. A foot wide is seriously gonna inhibit your ability and selection of fish...especially if its long term. I would disregard any of the suggestions for arowanas, large cats, clown knives, or larger cichlids...this tank will just not support them for life. There are many cichlids out there though that WILL suit this tank. Salvini for one....gorgeous cichlid, crazy attitude. Thorichthese species.....ummm......
