Welcome to the darkside.

50,000 ways to do EVERYTHING and none of them are necessarily the right way :grinno:

SweeTang21 and Spotfin are right on the skimmer. Good one will run you $200+ Skimmer/lights/REFUGIUM should be your biggest investments in a reef tank (IMO).
Figure out what you want invert-wise and build your set up to suit it.
Put alot of thought into where you want to go with your tank before your start buying livestock. Biggest mistake people make is just buying the wrong animals PERIOD.

My 15 is all Zoanthids and Nepthea. All i wanted was easy non-demanding stuff so naturally. . . I have an easy undemanding tank :)

I agree. i avoid using sterilizers for the fact that through the long run will kill a lot of good bacteria built up in the system. any of it that becomes free in the water column will be neutralized. However i don't totally disagree because if used properly at the right GPH can reduce the amount of lost bacteria. In addition to this, you need to do the homework and figure out what your needs are. most can pass without the need of a UV sterilizer but some tanks should use them, such as predator tanks.
