new 75 gallon cichlid tank some help please..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
salousi would be nice as well... go to cichlid forum and check out speices profiles and look at lake malawi and mbuna... mbuna means rock dweller....Stay away from peacocks...

the best way to ad cichlids is all at the same time..but if you arleady have some in the tank...put the bag to float..then fed them, then turn of the light and cover tha tank so no light cames in...finally you can realease the fish in the bag, but let it explore it with the light off and let it settle before you uncover the tank and turno on the lights.

peacocks are much less aggressive if aggressive at all. they are peaceful fish like yellow labs, if you get them make sure they are much bigger than the mbuna and keep lots of rocks.

it is not the mixing lakes problems, it is the aggression problems. I have peacocks and haps and tangs in one tank and it works great, but mbuna and certain others will not workout so well... plus there is only one rock pile, without separate territories problems can arise...

i agree.. either keep an only mbuna setup or u can mix haps and peacocks . . .depends on what u like . . but i strongly recommend that you do some research first before stocking your tank.. good luck. . . post the pics after you're done stocking the tank. .

ive always found that adding the least aggressive first adn then work your way up (within reason). avoid mixing in any fish from teh same family (no yellow labs and pearlmuts). also, switch the rocks up each time you add fish. turn the lights off and let it sit. hopefully, when you turn the lights back on, everyone is still there. good luck!
