New 75 gallon tank planning

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's because most questions asked is trying to cram fish in too small of an aquarium for long term survival and health. Many of the folks don't have the long term experience in keeping the fish (3-4 years is not considered long term).

If people post up front they don't care about long term keeping or tattered fins from territoriality, then comments about aquarium size generally don't show up.
75 is not small akuarium. If you can't successfully keep a pair of 20 cm cichlids in it, or 3 females then you are not a very good aquarist and you are doing something wrong...
On YouTube channels, where people keep 50 species of cichlids, they do not exaggerate when recommending such volumes. Now I'm building a 120 gallon tank and someone comes and tells me you can't put just a one pair of Midas cichlids in there. If they're going to be better off in a 250 gallon, with a couple Oscars, Vieja and Texas cochlids, then great, then I'm definitely wrong!

why don't you go with a pair of those cichlids? Its soo much cool i think. :)
It is tempting but I don't want to go down the breeding route, I'd rather keep the group of females too as they are such a stunning fish :)

Absolutely! I want this to be a long term tank with the aim of raising the fish to their lifespan. When I had my Severums my eldest was at least 12 years old so I want to achieve the same with these.
