The lights are very high power grow lights I used to have on my dart frog aquarium. This whole 75 used to house some D. tinctorius "Regina" and a ton of live plants from bromeliads to orchids. The lights are left on between 7 and 10 hours a day, and there must be a good balance in the tank of fish and food for the algae to grow. I really like the aglae as well, gives it a marine feel .
Just to clarify - 2 x 48 inch high power fluorescent tube lights.
Thanks all . The tank doesn't get very hot, ~82 degrees max. It's been an extremely cool summer so I've just been lucky partially. The few hot days we've had I've done a water change + ice cubes and even left the lights off for a while haha.
