New 8 inch Texas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah male! And he'll come around! He's bada$%. Be sure to update pix!!

Yeah he has the longest tail fin I've ever seen. He wouldn't be anywhere near 8 inches if it weren't for his tail fin.

Also I have another question regarding his behavior. After destroying all the plants now he's making huge craters in the gravel. Ones all the way down to the glass. Is this one of those cichlids that just like digging?

LOL They usually make short work of plants! And for the gravel?? Either playing, looking for food, or making HIS home! Awesome!

Yup, he's definitely male. They do like to dig. I think its more of a personality trait as to making the tank his domain. I had large holey limestone in my tank and i had to egg crate the bottom of the tank to keep the rocks from banging on the bottom glass. The two I had were FO and I had to keep em in different tanks. No tetras. They will become an eventual snack. What was the tank setup he was in prior to you getting him?

Hi, Its very cool. Its a male but its carpintis not texas

Just thought I'd share a couple pictures of how he's doing after a few weeks. He's actually better looking than when I saw him at the store. I guess that just goes to show what happens when a fish gets settled in, has a good diet and good water quality. He's hiding because the flash scared the hell out of him for the first pic but other than that I think he looks much better. At the store they had him in a darker tank with black gravel and a black background. I'm pretty sure that's why he looked so good there. I wanted to do that too but he's colored up so much I'm not sure if I'll bother. Anyways thanks to all that contributed and for the advice. Also sorry about the water spots I really need to wipe down the front of his tank.

He is truely awsome! Although pix aren't so great, you can tell hes happy with great colors!

Whats his attitude like? Do you have him in with any other fish?
