Skimmer could even go in the fuge section, it would be a good idea if you get a cheap skimmer. Some skimmers will pump micro bubbles into the tank and that bubble trap with break them, but if you have a good skimmer no worries.

sand or no sand in the fuge?

if sand, would it be dangerous for the pump from the skimmer if the skimmer is in the fuge?

What size sock?

Its also aesthetically pleasing. Nothing cluttering up the back wall, other then overflow and return.

200 micron for filtering size, as far as physical size thats up to you. I prefer bigger ones, less clogging.

Well you could section if off, or just elevate it with egg crate. You deff don't want to sit it on the sand, but other than that no sand should really be kicked up

I make sure my skimmers don't give off micro bubbles so i put mine by the pump. Usually i can only access one end of my sump and i always make sure its the pump and skimmer end. Then i reach down for the sock. My skimmer needs constant tuning, otherwise it would be in the fuge area, if i could access it easier.

My fuge area is infront of the skimmer. Its sectioned off, where you can see the canvas. Those airline tubes create agitation for the chaeto, It also makes air, which isn't the best but moving chaeto is better than crazy amounts of co2 levels

Micron filter sock

I know there is a certain distance, I'll have to google that and post it later for ya.

according to melevsreefs.com:

How far apart should my bubble trap baffles be?

The bubble trap baffles should be 1" apart, with the center baffle 1" off the floor of the sump.

I ran a 90 gallon tall with a trigger puffer and lion fish for grow out to go in my 240.

I started very simple and played with things till I got it exactly the way I wanted it and my end result was this.

Power head for circulation when the lights were on.

Lights I used a coralife power compact

return pump a quietone 4000 I like these pumps because they are under $75 and pump the most water with the least power consumption which is a big factor for me in so cal.

The return was plumbed in to a 100 micro sock. I tried 50 but clogged to fast it then dumped in to a chamber that had a ASM G-2 skimmer I bought used for $100 then bubble trap and back to the tank

I remember reading that as well, i would do 1.25 just for insurance purposes.
