I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Out of the hundreds that are kept by people here it's really no surprise that I would be the one thats having problems with them.
New AC110 making noise

Thanks, tomorrow I'll setup my other one and see if will operate quietly at full flow. If it works fine then I'll throw the reduced flow one on the 55g.

i had the same problem i bought 6 from drs foster and smith and all of them did it

Wow that sucks although it's nice to see I'm not the only one with the AC curse.
I am glad that I went thru Petsmart and not Dr. F&S, at least this way I don't have to worry about shipping anything back I can just go down to the local Petsmart and get credited back or get the filter exchanged.
The only problem I have ever had was sand particle in with the impeller making a grinding sound. But, you say that you are gravel. ???????
