I do see the resemblinance with the Salvini now that you mention it. I love Acaras they are such cool fish big fish tude in a small package with great looks and color.

Not at all lame, these guys are not seen often and when they came available I jumped on them because they are somthing I wanted and have been interested for a while but could never find. Very cool looking Acara with a big snook alike mouth.

GREAT PICKUP Tom! Acaronia have the biggest eyes. They remind me of juvie H. psittacus, very cool to watch. The Wet Spot (the retail store) has had a few for months, they are 3" and very healthy. I walk by them every weekend. Very hard to tell myself no. They ship too, email them if your looking for more. ;)

I thought they had Acaronia vultuosa according to their list, differant species. Both basketmouths are cool though. Do they have both in now?

Good pick up. Back when I worked in a pet store, we had a a couple of larger nassa. Fit in with oscars, pikes cichlids, and larger cats fairly well but couldn't handle the larger CA's.

They still have them listed (physically on the tank) as Acaronia Nassa. I am not familiar with the genus enough to be able to tell them apart. :( I am not sure which it is to be honest if they have it listged differently on AB.

Acaronia vultuosa pics are even harder to find, but in my book it shows them having a single downward line under the eye instead of one or two occelated spots there ... but given how rare both are, I'm not sure we can trust the pic IDs.

Thanks Chris! I'm on a mission. I'll get some pics out of there for us. That's the hard thing about rare fish, your the only one with the pics lol... Lonely room..

Sorry for the derail Tom, again they look great!

No derail Justin, conversations evolve it's all good the more we discuss this stuff the more we all learn.
