New acrylic Projects 180 & 240 gallons

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
dang man.. thats gonna need some work! my 20g sat in a tractor shed for 10 years and looked better than that :nilly:

for the back, it looks like the only option is sanding. paint strippers could be an option, but i wouldnt want those chemicals near my aquarium.

I plane on using this tank and not as a sump I have couple of FX5's that will be used for my 240 gallon. This tank mite be setup for my Gt's and firemouths and O's will see.

ooh^^ you got pics of those firemouths?

you might have a chance if that paint is on the outside of the tank. otherwise if it's on the inside, you'll have a lot of work to do.

i'm thinking you can get most of it off with acetone or thinner, sand it, polish, then re-paint it black.

have you stated trying to clean off that paint? i'm sure once you get most of it of with acetone/thinner, it should be easier to buff with novus..you might even try sanding with fine sand paper.

how are those fx5's on your 240 btw? do they filter good?

I haven't got the 240 yet but I can let you know when I do and the FX5 work very well and I love them for heavy overstock tanks :)

Well I was able to get the paint removed from the 150 acrylic tank and now I just need to fill and check over it and see what else I need to do!. Today I picked up the 240 gallon tank and stand. I hope to get pictures from and post them :)

What did you end up doing to remove the paint?

I was going to suggest the corline algea scrapers for saltwater acrylic tanks
